CFA Beauty surgeons have extensive expertise in eyelid lifts & surgery.
The eyelids are delicate structures that protect and maintain the health of our eye. But yet the eyes are the window to our soul and say so much about us without uttering a word. They can be susceptible to a variety of problems, often related to aging. As we age, our skin thins out, brows drop, our tissue stretches and sags, and the soft tissue loses volume. This can result in heavy upper eyelids (ptosis) or excess upper eyelid skin (dermatochalasis) that may interfere with vision, and if they do, insurance companies will often pay for surgery to lift the lids.
Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is a procedure designed to correct problems around the eyes due to aging or injury. Excess skin that forms bags around the eyes can be removed under anesthesia, eliminating bagging and drooping. If you are dissatisfied with the appearance of your eyelids or they are causing functional issues, you may be a good candidate for this procedure. Eyelid surgery can dramatically improve the appearance of skin around the eyes, leading to a healthier, more youthful appearance.
Loss of elasticity of the skin and sagging, baggy eyelids can also be treated. Lower eyelid surgery can help rejuvenate your appearance and is a common cosmetic surgical procedure performed at the same time as reconstructive upper eyelid surgery. Other concerns include benign lesions, inflammatory problems and skin cancers on the eyelids – we can diagnose and treat these concerns as well, in a caring and professional environment.
Due to the nature of this oculoplastic surgery, results will take some time to become apparent as you recover. Blepharoplasty surgery addresses bulging fat pads and excess skin but does not change the condition of the skin which remains. Other procedures or treatments to improve collagen formation in the skin may be recommended to obtain an optimal outcome for the appearance of “crepey skin”.
